Mental Wellbeing
The mental wellbeing of pupils is central to what we offer at HSF. Staff work hard to ensure pupils feel safe and minimise anxiety and stress. Both schools practice mindfulness, and encourage all pupils to learn skills developing resilience and confidence.
There will be times, however, where pupils may be struggling with things, and we have a range of support on offer for children and families. This support is overseen by the Pastoral Team, which includes a School Mental Health Worker, Myles Stewart. Myles works one day a week (Thursday) and helps support staff with individual pupils, and directly with children themselves if required.
We also have a Medway Community Health (NELFT) Mental Health Support Worker attached to the sachool who is able to work with small groups, and help suport parents. In some instance, individual support fpor children may be accessed.
Any concerns about a child's mental well-being should be referred to the class teacher in the first instance, and then a referral may be made to the Pastoral Team in the first instance. The Pastoral Team consists of Myles, Emma Taylor (SENDCo) and Helen Young (Family Liaison Officer).
